Beautifully designed. Definitely visit !!!! Very nice young waiter. See you soon again !!!
My partner and I spent two days in Oberwesel in September and wanted to have dinner one evening in the "Historischen Weinwirtschaft", as it looked very idyllic from the outside and the menu seemed very interesting to us. Unfortunately all tables outside were occupied. So we went to the restaurant and couldn't even ask if we could get a table for two and were told in a very snappy manner that "all tables are occupied", although all tables inside were free. The staff hadn't even bothered to help us. My boyfriend has a slightly darker complexion and it came out like they didn't want us in the restaurant. We were both born and raised in Germany and to be treated like that is a cheek.
Excellent! Delicious local dishes with seasonal and regional ingredients, plus a rustic ambience with authentic service. We were very cold that evening, but it was quite pleasant and warm in the old walls.
We sat in the closet, ate and drank deliciously. Very nice evening.
Fantastic,Antique and Romantic German restaurant in Oberwesel, A must visit
As the name suggests, historically cozy, tasteful and very good food
Very characteristic place, pay attention to the times because it closes early in the evening, the very friendly but slightly splashed owner knows her stuff and is very helpful, I do not recommend the wine from the carafe which is not good, I recommend instead the fillet with green pepper which is wonderful, the desserts are also very good, the prices are fair
Very cozy place. Nice beer garden. Nice food and drinks. The hygiene concept was observed.
Very tasty, friendly staff, a super nice housekeeper and great atmosphere. Immediately again
Small, fine, charming and lovingly prepared restaurant. Cozy! Nice relaxed atmosphere, friendly and attentive service. The food we enjoyed, heaven and earth, baked sheep's cheese with salad, salad with chanterelles and, as a dessert, the chocolate dream with mousse, cakes, cold dog were a dream. All of this, in my opinion, at a great price. Gladly again and again, you have to try the other dishes on the menu as well.
Very nice wine bar. Special ambience, also in the garden. You feel good! Food and wine very good. The boss served. Very courteous, relaxed and resolute. We recommend!
Helle best! Food good! Wine good! Service good!
A wonderful place to stay. Very good food and the wine 🍷 to fall in love with. Thumbs up for the service
Great location and the service staff is great. Seldom left so much tip in an inn. Food and wine are top notch! We would love to come back.
Romantic setting and good wine and food. Friendly service. We were there twice during the holiday
Beautiful garden and interior made with love and attention to detail. There are toys for the children to play. A choice of 40+ wines. The food was great. We had a lovely Sunday afternoon there!
My wife absolutely wanted to go there, otherwise I would not have gone there at all. I couldn't reserve a table, should "try my luck". When we arrived a table was not a problem and the friendly waitress rolled her eyes when we said we tried to reserve. I had trout, which was okay, but not the potatoes, so they weren't good for the butter sauce. When we complained about this when asked by the waitress, she came up with the comment from the kitchen: These are potatoes that are stuck, you can't get them soft.
Very cozy atmosphere. Service good and attentive. Had the pork cutlet, all great, freshly made. Could have been a little thinner for my taste. It was definitely not the last time
A beautiful place that actually invites you to relax. Pleasant atmosphere and good food and good wines. We had a pleasant stay. Update: After we were here about 3 weeks ago, we wanted to visit the historic wine industry again today. Unfortunately we were rejected very unfriendly today, although there were enough unreserved places. Two other couples were like us. Conclusion: There will be no third visit.
I went to this lovely place with my wife and baby daughter. The place is so relaxing, I could stay a full afternoon there. Not only the food selection is outstanding, they were the kindest you can imagine: we were stuck without milk to our baby on Sunday (everything is closed). They didn’t think twice before giving us milk. That was in addition to a little present to my baby in the first moment we went into the restaurant. That kind of things makes you feel you were hosted in a place, not just ate there and moved to the next place. This place has a heart, and you can sense it in every moment there. Needless to say: highly recommend!
We were there with two small children. All the waitresses were very friendly and very nice with the children. The children also felt visibly comfortable. The food and wine were great. The puree was homemade and the fried potatoes also deserve their name. There was a homogenized dressing on the salad, which unfortunately is no longer a matter of course these days. We will definitely come back and combine the visit with the beautiful castle climb.
Great service and great interior. You feel right at home and the food was great too. We will definitely be back.
A dreamlike, enchanted place with a wonderful ambience both outside and inside. As soon as we entered the entrance area to the courtyard we knew something very special was awaiting us. And we were not disappointed. Everything was right. The food the atmosphere of the service. We would love to come back here. There is a lot to discover inside this house, which is over 500 years old. But what ? It will not be revealed. It's best to look, enjoy and discover for yourself! Worth it
This is such an adorable restaurant. The building is more than 500 years old and the restaurant itself was founded in 1986 by Iris Marx. Just like the castles, the walls are made of slate stone and the ceiling, wood! It was originally a home. So many of the things that belonged to the residents, decades ago, are still here. Infact, the bed frame, has been re-purposed as chairs! Decor included the age-old glass storage containers! Everything from the decor to the table arrangement, had the historical feel to it. The food was local and very very yummy!
Nice place to see
The meal is great, but service wasn't so good. We were there during Rhein in Flammen festival, so the place was full, but it seemed that they didn't expected to have so many guests and couldn't handle that amount of orders. I've ordered Himmel un Erde and a bottled bier (smth dark wheat) and that was amazing, but we had to wait for it for almost 40 mins! Really, does it take THAT long to cook a mashed potato and a sausage? Anyway, when it's not that crowded it should be a great place.
Excellent food and service in an historic building. Outside has a beer garden, inside us cosy. Highly recommended.
Excellent service and food in a historic house. Great local wines.
Fantastic place for wine and steak!
Nice place, good food.
Wonderfully decorated restaurant with a great choice of wine and delicious food. Reasonable prices and good service.
The food was good. We had schnitzel and fried potatoes. The sausage platter was a bit unexpected as Americans but we didn’t know what we were getting into - not your typical franks or brats.
Nice place good food !!
Amazing quality. Great food. A gem of an owner in Iris.
Absolutely a must see and eat.
